The Sembrich, described by many as a unique cultural experience, offers a Summer Music and Film Festival featuring a variety of music, an opera museum, and nature park. It was founded in 1940 to highlight the accomplishments of distinguished Polish-American soprano Marcella Sembrich, a star of the Golden Age of Opera, who taught on the shores of Lake George.

The Sembrich offers guests the opportunity to experience music, history, and nature all on the shores of Lake George. There is something for everyone. If you enjoy live music (classical, world, contemporary, and more), film, or the beauty of the Adirondacks, The Sembrich is for you!
Q. How did the museum get started?
The Sembrich was founded in 1940 by Marcella Sembrich’s daughter-in-law, Juliette de Coppet Stengel. We have been in operation since, preserving our extensive collection and expanding program offerings and activities.

Our guests make The Sembrich a special place. Each year we see a number of familiar faces and look forward to meeting new people. Our programs offer a wide range of opportunities to experience music, history, and nature.

The Sembrich is an inclusive and unique organization. Our staff prides itself on creating an environment welcoming all guests to experience The Sembrich’s beauty and activities.

The Sembrich has something for everyone to discover and enjoy. All guests are welcome. We have nature trails along the lake for those who love the outdoors. Our museum and docents can share so many fun facts with you. And the summer music and film festival, featuring both indoor and outdoor events, is phenomenal.

Our incredible staff is the heart of our organization. Each member brings unique talent to our organization. Our guests enjoy their experiences at The Sembrich and share them with friends and family.
